Student Enrichment
Great Books; RIF; Tutoring; Wellness
GREAT BOOKS (Chair - Meagan Kempton; 3 volunteers per 3rd grade class requested) Engages in two separate 6 week, 1 hour per week, short story discussions with small group of 3rd grade students. (Fall 6 weeks -Spring 6 weeks time determined by teacher, takes place during school hours).

RIF (Chair - Laura Blair, 3-4 committee members requested) Assist with book inventory and three school-wide book distributions to students. Coordinate contribution of books and oversees a “RIF on the Road” distribution. Flexible year-round placement.

TUTORING (Bobcat Buddies) – (Co-Chairs- Gayle Lambert; Holly Waldron; 40 volunteers requested) Work one-on-one with bobcats chosen for tutoring program (reading or math) by Vice Principal and teacher. Meet with child 30-45 min per week at mutually agreed upon time. Tutoring materials provided by teacher, training of volunteers provided. Year-round placement.

WELLNESS COMMITTEE-(Chair- Laura Losson; 4 committee members requested) Work together with school personnel to promote healthy lifestyle choices. Assist during Walk-to-School days and with other wellness activities.

Fundraising

Box Tops; Golf Tournament; Walk-a-Thon
BOX TOPS COORDINATOR (Chair - Debbie Sledge; 2 committee members requested) Help chair to promote the General Mills program and assist with collection and counting of boxtops throughout the year. Flexible year-round placement.

GOLF TOURNAMENT (Chair - Barbie Tillman; 5 committee members requested) Assist Chair with the Annual Mitchell Elementary Golf Classic at MacDill Air Force Base. Help promote the event and organize ticket sales; secure donations from local vendors; help the day of the event. Late winter/spring placement.

WALK-A-THON (Chair - Lisa Woodward; 10 committee members requested) Help organize and oversee all aspects of the annual Walk-a-Thon on the campus of Mitchell Elementary. Fall placement.

Family Events
Literacy Week; Family Dinner & Art Night; Winter FunFest; Talent Show

BOOK-A-NEER LITERACY WEEK - (Co-Chairs - Shannon Gittleman; Gianna Rendina-Gobioff; 3 committee members requested) Organize week-long literacy event at Barnes and Noble. Example activities include Teacher Read Alouds, Mother's Morning Out, Book Talk, art displays, treasure hunt, games, and Bedtime Stories with Mrs. Baumgartner. Fall Placement.
FAMILY DINNER & ART NIGHT (Chair - Sarah Walters; 8 committee members requested) Help plan a family dinner art night. Coordinate with Art teacher and cafeteria employees to hold event. Winter Placement.
WINTER FUNFEST- (Chair - Kimberly Bell; 12 committee members requested) Organize and plan the winter family FunFest; help run booths and games; solicit donations for prizes; work with local vendors to set up event. Winter Placement.

TALENT SHOW (Co-chairs - Nancy Frierson & Marian Sbar; 3 committee members requested) Coordinate and promote two Talent Shows, including program design. Work closely with Ms. Roberts to audition and coordinate schedule of acts. Recruit volunteers for emcee and backstage assistance. Spring placement.

Homeroom Parents; Hospitality; Open House; Uniform Swap Days; Spirit shirt Sales;
Directory; Advertising

HOMEROOM PARENT (Chair - Kathleen Thaxton; minimum one volunteer per homeroom requested) Meet at beginning of year to discuss policies/rules of school. Communicate & coordinate through email and flyers to parents any pertinent information. Work with teacher to coordinate volunteering in classroom as needed. Full -year placement.

HOSPITALITY (Chair - Greta Brooks; 10 committee members requested) Help with hospitality events including: Women’s & Men’s Bobcat Breakfasts, and Conference night dinners. Help secure speakers, food, and beverages for these events as well as assisting with the marketing of the events. Solicit donations and/or pricing from local vendors for food-beverage, and décor. Year-round placement.

PRE-K; K OPEN HOUSE (Chair - Kathy Hill; 6 committee members requested) Coordinate and market the Open House (formally Pre K/K Round Up). Work with Hospitality to arrange coffee and refreshments. Work with Mrs. Baumgartner for schedule, insert updates, agenda and additional hand outs. Coordinate Tour Guides, routes and information for the morning of the event. January Placement.  

UNIFORM SWAP DAYS- (Chair – Alison Meyer- 4 committee members requested) Help chair coordinate and works 3 to 4 swap days for uniform exchanges. Flexible year-round placement.

SPIRIT SHIRT SALES (Chair – Heidi Magin; 2 committee members requested) Process order forms, distribute orders, and assist with the keeping of inventory. Flexible year-round placement.

DIRECTORY (Chair – Jill Cusmano- 2 committee members requested) Gather data, updates directory database, helps proof read final document. Help distribute directory. Fall placement

ADVERTISING (Chair – Allison McCoy – 2 committee members requested) Secure advertisers from the community for the Directory and Banter. Fall Placement.
Family Outreach; Fifth Grade Events; Media Center & Book Fair; Teacher Appreciation

FAMILY OUTREACH (Chair - Angela Weck; 3 committee members requested) Solicit donations for Mitchell families in need and coordinates welcome baskets for new families. Work with Guidance Counselor. Year-round placement.

FIFTH GRADE EVENTS (Chair – Valerie Cordell; 15 committee members requested) Coordinate fundraising activities for 5th grade graduation events and end-of-year programs, including the picnic, awards ceremony and memory book production. Year-round placement.

MEDIA CENTER/BOOK FAIR (Chair - Sally Glisson; 10 committee members requested) Assist Media Center Specialist as requested throughout school year & during book fairs – time allotment coordinated with chair. Flexible year-round placement

TEACHER APPRECIATION – (Chair – Kim Gilbert; 12 volunteers requested) Help to coordinate gifts and activities for the week. Spring Placement.
