Thank you for your interest in the Mitchell Elementary PTA!
We appreciate your support for our school and know your child will too. Decades of research has shown when parents are involved, students perform better in school. PTA Membership is open to all parents, grandparents, teachers, friends, local business, and community leaders who want to support our school. We appreciate all members - whether or not you have time to volunteer. Each member increases the PTA's ability to advocate for our children.
How do I join? Complete PTA membership form and return it to your child's teacher with your check payable to the Mitchell Elementary PTA for $5 per individual or business. If one parent joins, $5. If two parents join, $10.
What does my membership mean? Becoming a member of the PTA is an expression of support for Mitchell Elementary. Your child may associate your name every time he sees PTA announcements or events. We welcome your volunteer hours - large or small - but they are not required. You are also welcome at all PTA General Meetings which are announced and held on Tuesday evenings. You will receive a membership card later in the school year that allows you access to the National PTA website's resources.
What if I want to volunteer in the school? Let us know you want to volunteer on your membership form and our VP of Volunteers will work with you to match your availability and talents with a job! For detailed information, check out the PTA Volunteer section of the website.
What does the PTA do for the school? The PTA sponsors many programs and events at Mitchell Elementary. PTA events are funded through fundraisers like the Walk-a-thon and volunteer hours are provided, primarily, by parents. Here are some of our events and programs: Teacher Appreciation, Grandparents Day, Uniform Swap, RIF Book Distribution, Family Dinner & Art Show, Winter Fun Fest, Family Skate Night, Literacy Week, Wellness Programs & Events, Great Books Classroom Discussions, Bobcat Buddies, Women's Bobcat Breakfast, Men's Bobcat Breakfast, Fall & Spring Bookfairs, New Family Events, and Mini-Grants for Teachers.
